Jersey City Eggato curry

You might never tried the Egg with potato for making the curry. But, it is one of the famous recipe at Karnataka, Coorg. They add Potato with egg to make curry with just few ingredients. Trust us. We tried the same in our home for Chappathi. Fantastic!!! It is worth to try in your home.


Potato – 3

Eggs – 6

Tomato – 2

Onion – 2

Green chilli – 3

Curry Leaf – 1 spring

Chilli powder – 2 teaspoon

Coriander powder – 3 teaspoon

Turmeric powder – ½ tablespoon

Salt for taste

Oil for seasoning

To grind:

Garlic – 8 pods

Ginger – 1 inch

Cumin seed/ Cumin powder – 2 teaspoon

Grated Coconut – 1 cup


Boil potato in a pan and cool down in a cold water. Remove the skin and smash with your hand uneven.

Boil eggs in a pan and remove shell.

Make a smooth paste of the given ingredient under To grind.

Heat a pan and add three teaspoon of groundnut oil/any cooking oil.

Add chopped onion and stir it.

Once onion gets translucent, add sliced green chilli and curry leaves. Stir it and cook for a minute.

Then add tomato and add required salt. Cook till tomato become mushy.

Now add turmeric powder, chilli powder and coriander powder and stir it. Add ¼ cup of water and cook it for a minute.

Then add little ground masala ( we need to add the rest of the masala later). Cook it for two minutes. Now add mashed potato and add enough water. Now add rest of the Ground masala.

Close the lid and cook for 10 minutes until the raw smell of masala goes out.

Now slit the boiled eggs into two pieces and add into the gravy. Cook for two minutes.

Now the tasty jersey city Eggato curry is ready to serve.
