Drumstick/Moringa/Murungakkai Curry without dhal

Drumstick/ Moringa/ Murungakkai is a long, green slender vegetable which is commonly
found in Indian shops. The flower, the leaves and the whole vegetable is edible and it is been
in south Indian food for years. Usually this will be used for making Sambar with dhal. For a
change, I made curry with drumstick without dhal  for rice and recipe came out really tasty.


Ingredients:
Drumstick – 2 cut into pieces
Onion – 1 chopped
Tomato – 1 chopped
Garlic pods – 6
Groundnuts – 4 tsp
Mustard/Urad dal seeds – 1 tsp
Cumin seed – 1 tsp
Hing/Asafoetida – ¼ tsp
Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Curry Leaves – 2 spring
Coriander leaves for seasonings
Salt as required
Oil for seasonings
Steps
Add 1 lt of water in a pan and bring to boil. Add ½ tsp of turmeric powder,
2 drumsticks cut into pieces into the pan, cook till 90%.
Then add 2 tsp of oil in a pan and heat it. Once oil hot, add 1 tsp of mustard seed, urad dal mix,
1 tsp of cumin seed. Once mustard start spluttering, add ¼ tsp of hing.
Then add 6 crushed garlic pods, 2 spring curry leaves.
Then add 1 chopped onion and cook till translucent.
Now add 1 chopped tomato and required salt, keep cook till tomato soft.
At this time, add ½ tsp of turmeric powder, 1 tsp of red chilli powder, 1 tsp of coriander
powder and cook for a minute.
Now add cooked drumsticks with cooked water and cook for 3 minutes.
Meanwhile roast 4 tsp of groundnuts and make into course powder and add into the curry.
Cook for 5 minutes.
Finally,  Garnsih with chopped coriander leaves and switch off the flame.

Now, tasty Drumstick curry without dal is ready to serve.
