Eggplant is native to Central America and Mexico. It is cultivated in Asia in some tropical areas of Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Taiwan.

The skin of the egg is bright yellow and waxy. Its flesh looks like the yolk of a boiled egg. It is also called egg fruit because of its egg-like appearance.
